The match started off with a bang when last minute entry to the starting line up, after passing a late fitness test, Anthony Martial was fouled by Gabriel Jesus inside the box within one minute of the match starting. Bruno Fernandes stood up to confidently convert, adding to his goal tally for the season. Man United started the match playing a higher defensive line then usual which allowed them to attack further up the pitch. The first half played out with Man City applying a lot of pressure and creating more chances. Fortunately Man United were able to reach the half way mark with their lead in tact.
Four minutes into the second half we saw Man United extend their lead when a Marcus Rashford pass found Luke Shaw inside the box and managed to place the ball into the bottom corner of the Man City goal. The first substitution of the match was in the sixty fifth minute when Kyle Walker came on to replace Joao Cancelo. Phil Foden came on to replace Gabriel Jesus in the seventy first minute followed by Mason Greenwood coming on to replace an injured Marcus Rashford in the seventy third minute. Nemanja Matic then replaced Anthony Martial in the eighty eight minute and the last substitution of the game came in stoppage time when Brandon Williams came on to replace Bruno Fernandes. After five minutes plus of added time the match eventually finished two nil to Man United.
It was a great result today to come away with the three points in match where it was expected the best we could have hoped for was a draw. We saw a lot of good performances today but I would give my man of the match to Luke Shaw.
