Bruno, Cavani and Pogba Run Rampant against Roma; Man Utd on the Verge of European Final AFter Destroying Roma 6-2

Man Utd are on the cusp of finishing off Roma and playing in the Europa League final after an inspiring performance from Bruno Fernandes, Edison Cavani and Paul Pogba.

Man Utd won 6-2 on the night and scored five goals in the second half, Bruno had two goals as well as Cavani, Pogba scored on a header and Mason Greenwood probably finished off the tie late in the game.

The goals were obviously great but the passing was amazing. Cavani was so good holding the ball up, Pogba was taking players on and finding his teammates at will and Bruno pulled the strings as the playmaker and made smart runs in the box.

Bruno’s first goal was brilliant, the run from Pogba, the one touch pass from Cavani while holding off the defender and a clever finish from Bruno to chip the goalie from close range, the perfect start for united.

Man Utd’s energy levels were evidently high. Their relentless pressing helped create chance after chance for Man Utd.

Another beautiful moment between the three for the second goal, Pogba released Cavani who held the ball up well and found Bruno, he played it back to Cavani and finished smoothly in the top hand corner.

In the 67th minute the cameras panned to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who encouraged his team to keep the pressure high, and they did.

The high press created counter attacking opportunities for Roma but they were so overwhelmed by Man Utd going forward that the two goals they did score are pretty meaningless in the long run.

A tap in from Cavani, a Bruno penalty, Pogba’s header and the best pass of the game from Cavani found Greenwood on the counter to round out the rest of the goals on the night.

This performance has me begging Man Utd re-sign Edison Cavani immediately.

Unpacking Manchester United’s Wild 3-1 Win Against Tottenham

Manchester United defeated Tottenham 3-1 in London yesterday after falling behind in the first half. Fred scored off a rebound tying the match, Edison Cavani then scored off a header and Mason Greenwood sealed the match in stoppage time.

The game had plenty of controversy after VAR overturned an Edison Cavani goal because of a foul on Heung-min Son, Son would go on to score shortly after. Son received a lot of grief for the way he sold the foul.

Manchester United kept pushing and eventually tied the game after Fred was there to finish after Edison Cavani’s shot was saved by Hugo Lloris, this was his first goal since 2017. Cavani would get his goal after Mason Greenwood sent in a beautiful first time cross on the right side.

Greenwood would get his goal in stoppage time, his near post shot was too hot for Lloris to handle and it squeaked in after some nice moves opened up his shot. Manchester United have collected 28 points this season in games that they were trailing.

Manager Comments

The controversy continued after the game as both Managers fired off shots. In Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s post match press conference he said that if Son was his son he would not get food, of course it was sarcastic, but Jose Mourinho took offense.

Jose Mourinho would respond directly to Ole and say that Son’s father is a better man. It was a highly contentious match, Manchester United were destroyed in their last game against Spurs at Old Trafford and wanted revenge.

Manchester United looked to have guaranteed themselves Champions League Football for next year and with a Leicester loss they look a lock for second place.

Man of the Match

Edison Cavani was such a big player yesterday for Manchester United, others played well, Paul Pogba looked good, Mason Greenwood was extremely effective off the bench and Dean Henderson was decent in goal.

Edison Cavani was sensational and deserves the man of the match. His classical number 9 prowess was on display against Spurs. He should of had two goals but the goal was disallowed, his hold up play was on display for Manchester United.

The performance by the Uruguayan asks a lot of questions of Manchester United and what they are going to do at the position this summer. Will they try and convince him to stay or go elsewhere in the market?

Ole has spoken about the struggles the Uruguayan has faced without his family and injuries, but either way, United are capable of big things with a classic 9 in their squad.

It was a crazy evening for Manchester United and a fun one. A good ending to the season will hopefully carry over to next season.

Manchester United and Liverpool To Have Summer Transfer War Over These Three Players

The two Premier League sides continue to be linked with the same players recently. Ben White, Nikola Milenkovic and now Raphinha will likely be the subjects of a transfer war between the two rivals.

The rivalry spilling over to transfer market does not come as much of a surprise, both clubs have dealt with injuries or need to strengthen similar positions. The players listed also do not come with as steep of an asking price, compared to other players linked with the clubs. A bidding war could force the clubs to over pay for one of the players.

It was reported by Sportitalia Journalist Gianluigi Longari that Raphinha could be targeted by both clubs, like all the players listed, multiple teams will be inquiring about the prospect of acquiring them.

Raphinha has five goals and assists in seventeen games this season. Leeds are 5th in the league in scoring this season and Raphinha has transitioned well from Rennes and statistically has surpassed what he did in his best Ligue 1 campaign.

Raphinha plays primarily at right wing but could play on the left as well. Leeds bought the Brazilian for €20 million but could double their money in one year. €40 million could be seen as pricey but it is almost €60 million less than what Borussia Dortmund is commanding for Jadon Sancho. Jack Grealish is also a pricier option and does not seem interested in leaving Aston Villa despite constant speculation of him doing so.

The right wing/midfield position is a position that could use competition after Edison Cavani became the number 9 when fit, the hybrid forwards like Anthony Martial, Daniel James and Mason Greenwood have had some ups and downs playing in that position with Martial and Greenwood looking better centrally.

Ben White and Nikola Milenkovic

Both defenders are linked with United and Liverpool with Milenkovic being more recently. Ben White has had speculation surrounding him since last summer and in the winter tranter window.

Liverpool is in desperate need of a center back after being obliterated at the position with injuries. All of their top center back choices are injured or were injured at some point. United on the other hand need a central defender for competition purposes some suggest another central defender could help United push for a title.

Ben White was highly targeted this summer after a stellar season in the Championship helping Leeds get promoted and win the league. White has played 24 matches this season for Brighton and plays for a defense that is on par with United in terms of goals conceded this season at 32.

If White joins the team United could feature an all English backline and even all English defense if Dean Henderson is keeper next season. It would be interesting if they all played for England in the same team. It is not likely but is possible, Luke Shaw is having one of his best seasons in his career and arguably the best left back in the league.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is one of the best one-on-one defenders in the world and with Trent Alexander-Arnold struggling this season, Wan-Bissaka could be the first choice right back during the March friendlies. Harry Maguire is the captain of both sides and Henderson was outplaying Jordan Pickford last season.

White might be best suited at United for chemistry, to be able to play with the same players all year does not happen often. The success of countries like Germany could be contributed to that. Jerome Boateng, Joshua Kimmich, Mats Hummels and Manuel Neurer have played for Germany and Bayern at the same time with great success.

Nikola Milenkovic reportedly would only cost €30 million, not that bad, if United were to get all three it would be similar in price to the Sancho ransom. Fiorentina are not having a good season, they are currently sitting 14th and look way off the pace of Europe to mount a challenge and finished 10th and 16th the last two seasons.

Milenkovic has started 21 games this season for Fiorentina and is 5th in clearances and 6th in tackles for defenders in the league. Last season he added five goals, a decent return for a defender

United could be in a good situation next season if they were able to bolster their squad with any of the mentioned players creating an extremely competitive squad.
